Meet Cameron Jones

I joined Invotra at 22 in late September, 2022. My role for Invotra is a “Quality Assurance Tester Apprentice”; also known as QA tester, as part of Shona McClarences’s QA team. The position involves learning and helping with testing, reporting back to developers and being able to learn more about the role of QA and the company Invotra.

At the start of my career journey, back when I was 15 years old, I decided to go into hairdressing. I worked for different salons and barbers for 5 years, before I made the decision to leave the industy, as I was not pursuing my true goals.

My own interests and ambitions led me to the decision to try a career in I.T. I had no experience other than studying ICT in secondary school. I went to Bracknell & Wokingham college, where I studied Level 2 and 3 Computing courses over 3 years.

I really enjoyed both courses and I knew I made the right choice to extend my knowledge and skills in computing and was now sure I wanted a career in I.T. Throughout the time of college I had different arrays of jobs in different industries, such as working in Legoland as a ride operator and as a barman, helping extend my personal skills alongside helping to support myself through studies.

After finishing college, I was on the hunt to find a job, looking all over Indeed and Linkedin. I was found by someone from Invotra who offered me an opportunity as a QA tester apprentice. After a few interviews I managed to get myself the position.

I have been really enjoying my time at Invotra. Everyone is super friendly and supportive and has been really helpful. I cannot wait for what the future holds and to grow my career in this amazing establishment. My first few weeks have been exciting and have really given me an insight into everything I can achieve and learn, and all of this is really going to benefit my future career in I.T.
