What is Intranet Software?
When we talk about intranet software we often get caught up in the exciting features and functionality that providers have brought to the industry. Many bodies and organisation have done their best to maintain an intranet that was rendered redundant some time ago and with such a conscious effort to transfer our work and personal lives over to the digital world it has become more of a necessity for providers and customers to develop and implement new intranet software. With the availability of SaaS and the cloud we have created the immediacy of software demanded by organisations and users.
What is the aim?
The underlying aim of developing Intranet software is to drive engagement of the everyday user, you and I. You might work for a big corporation or small enterprise but chances are that you have an internal system or platform that you log into on a daily basis as a source of information and news. The difference now is that technology and information science has created a demand from a user perspective to have answers, instantly. The kind of demand that has made Google feel the need to justify its worth on every search: exhibit A: (About 1,160,000,000 results (0.26 seconds)
You will recognise the above as number of results and time it took to produce them for a search query on Google. We are actively engaged in a digital world, often passive to our conscious, that demands results. Where there is demand there will ultimately be a need to supply, otherwise we slow down and become ineffective. Intranet software faces the challenge of meeting the demands of a multitude of users and their engagement with a digital interface that goes beyond producing satisfactory information directed to each and every person.
