Release Date: 26 April 2017

Official Invotra release documentation for Invotra 3.12, which is to be released on the 26th April 2017.

This release is focused on refactoring the codebase we currently have with the main purpose to improve stability, performance and security.

3.12 highlights:

1. Major code improvements
2. Removed redundant modules and code

Refactor

Code improvement

  • We refactored some of the code to improve its stability and performance, these changes include:

  • Improved code validation functions.

  • Fixed any errors in the drupal administration user interface.

  • Improved the code relating to commenting on a post or poll within a group.

  • Improved the logic around notifications, resulting in fixing an issue where replies added to your content would not send a notification.

  • Resolved any dependencies across modules.

  • Remove redundant modules and code

Some redundant modules have been removed to improve performance and produce a cleaner codebase, in the process we have removed:

  • invotra_piwik from the codebase after being disabled.

  • SHS and Invotra SHS modules, files and directories.

  • The discussion content type.

  • Code relating to private content functionality .

  • Old pages which are already not accessible.

Deployment

  • We fixed a deployment issue where long running deployment scripts would cause a database error.

Permissions

  • We fixed access to certain pages where the permission to view the page was grantly directly to a role, rather than a permission.

Bugs

Organisational users cannot view messages

  • We fixed an issue where organisational users would not be able to view a message after selecting it from the Message Wall or going from the feed or notifications.

  • Modal window jumps

  • We fixed an issue where modal windows would jump or re-size after being opened, making it difficult to use it.

Widget branding reset

  • We fixed an issue where the widget branding settings would reset and remove the styles applied.

User receives notification when they comment on content they created

  • We fixed an issue where people would receive a notification about a new comment if they added a comment to a piece of content they created.

Ideas administrators cannot see manage content

  • We fixed an issue where Ideas administrators would not be able to access the ideas administration page as it was a sub menu of manage content. We have now given Ideas administrators access to the manage content page.

  • Badge image crop is not to square

  • We fixed an issue where the crop tool for the badge image did not provide the ability to crop to a square ratio.

Duplicate menu links on mobile

  • We fixed an issue where the links for My workplace and Edit profile would be duplicated for mobile users.

Backspace key when @mentioning redirects the user to the previous page

  • We fixed an issue where pressing the backspace key when @mentioning someone would redirect the user to the previous page.

  • Org chart on profile does not reflect cropped profile image

  • We fixed an issue where the org chart shown on the user profile would show the profile image without the crop applied.

Accessible Experience

  • Site section link disappears after opening main navigation bar using the keyboard

  • We fixed an issue where opening the main navigation bar using solely the keyboard could cause some links to disappear.

Performance

Restrict character snippet on manuals and manual pages

  • Instead of showing the full contents of manual pages from a manual, we now show a 400 character teaser to prevent a performance issue where lots of content has to be loaded.

Invert node grants logic for distributed publishing

  • We fixed a potential performance issue in distributed publishing.

Security

Remove redacted role from the index

  • We no longer index redacted users in solr so they will never appear in search results and other componenets using solr to ensure they are redacted.
