Can you tell us about your role and responsibilities at Invotra?

DevOps works with the delivery team. I help maintain an efficient, scalable and secure infrastructure. I am also part of the security team. Analysing potential risks and threats that the business faces, striving to always be proactive.

How did your journey begin at Invotra?

Many moons ago (almost 5 years to be exact), I joined as an apprentice in networking and IT systems, level 3. I started in client services before realising that I wanted to be more technical. I eventually moved into testing where I built a team from scratch. Fast forward 3 and a half years, Allie promoted new apprenticeships and cybersecurity was one of them. I’m now part of the DevOps team.

What is important to you when it comes to working culture?

I think it’s most important to get along with the people that you work with and feeling like a team. There’s nothing worse than not enjoying work and dreading going in. We are all hard working people who want to see the company succeed.

Tell us about a project that you’re working on…

I’m currently working on removing manual touch points within my area.

What is one surprising/interesting fact that people don’t know about you?

I was the 2018 Cyber Security ‘Newcomer of the Year’!

Name one career goal that you would like to achieve in the coming year…

I would like to master my field. I want to expand and expand, there’s no end destination. I want to keep learning and see where it takes me.

Is there anyone in particular, living or dead, that has inspired you throughout your career progression?

My dad is my hero. He’s always taught me that with hard work, you can achieve anything.
